I think that's a reading, certainly but I don't think the film portrays that sentiment at all. I don't actually buy that the film is anti-conseurmerist. Wicked queens and princesses inhabit the same space as adultery and cross dressing. Robots and Cat flu exist side by side with lecherous tit shots and d stalking of nubiles. The film is "Jim's imagination" come to life. The French girls him follows sing the only French song very American knows. His wife is just worried yet Jim paints her as a nagging bitch. The wheelchair ridden man may just simply be an over-talkative stranger, yet through Jim's eyes we see him as a lecherous grotesque. Jim is bringing reality into this kids paradise. It's reality with the corners rounded off. It's a place where people (allegedly) can't be declared dead until they're off the property, where the idea of sex or sexualising things is alien and abhorrently intrusive. Another key thing to remember is Disney is the closest thing to "paradise" on earth. What is Epcot? Home of the imagination pavilion and the long running "Imagination!" exhibit. Jim's set piece of surrealist imagery and sexual metaphor occurs at Epcot. I think the dark side of imagination is the key to this film. So when confronted with his own rampaging id, it's horrible for him. An epic battle begins when a middle-aged American husband and father of two learns. Jim's imagination is truly terrifying and he's ill before the film begins ("Did you have another one of your blackouts?"). The film so partly playing on the idea that "where your imagination comes to life" isn't actually a very pleasant thought. While it ŵas 80 minutes of borrowings from early Polanski and ripping off the infinitely superior Carnival of Souls lets have a whirl.
